One of the many advantages of living near South Lake Tahoe lies in the coveted “staycation” that’s only a short drive away. Everyone needs a day of relaxation once in a while. That’s why we have planned the perfect leisurely day for you at the Lake. You can go solo or with a friend. Either way, you’re sure to return home feeling renewed, refreshed, and ready to tackle the week!
Morning
Start your morning with a brisk walk or run along the beach at Sand Harbor. With incredible views and plenty of recreational activities, this beach remains a popular spot during summer months. After the drive up the mountain, stretching your legs and getting active sets the pace for the day. It’s also the perfect time to grab a morning coffee at and catch up with locals as the sun sets for the morning.
Afternoon
Either bring your lunch and picnic on the beach, or stop by a local deli to grab something healthy and filling. You can choose from picnic tables in the shade or simply lay a blanket out on the sand. Instead of opting for an indoor restaurant, it’s a nice change of pace to dine in nature, soaking up the views.
Spend your afternoon lounging on the beach with a good book. With the constant buzz of technology, it’s a great time to disconnect and let your mind regroup. If you get too hot, just dip your toes in the water (temperatures average 65 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer!) Although it may be too chilly for a swim, you can surely enjoy the sun and breeze— just don’t forget your sunscreen!
Evening

By evening, you’ll want to brush off the sand and find a place for dinner. Head to The Beacon Bar and Grill for a casual dinner with lakeside views. Snag a table on the patio to watch the sunset as you finish your meal. If you choose outdoor dining, you’ll want to bring a sweater. In the evenings the lake air gets chilly after the sun goes down.
